Have you heard about the book Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus? Its main idea is that men and women are from different planets, and we can't assume that our way of communication is similar. As a matter of fact, our ways of thinking are quite different. This book basically gives advice about how to understand men and women and how to communicate better between each other.
That's really true in our society today. Since men and women are born in different styles and educational background. This will lead to a kind of situation that it's quite hard from men and women to understand each other easily. If you want to know about the opposite sex, you'd better learn more about their minds.
Sexism at Work Recent years see more girl students on the campus than boys, and girls perform as excellently as boys. Some are even superior and receive more praises and honors. Indeed, girls are equal to boys. However, when they are getting out of the pure schoolyard and venture into the complicated society, they find themselves faced with many things different. Among them is sexism at work. It begins with the job interview. Though females have made full preparation to cope with the situation, blatant sexism in the selection of staff will make it tough for them to please the inter viewer and render him to nod. More vacancies are open only to males. Sometimes, females will be rejected just because of their sex. When females are lucky enough to be employed by a company, don't you assume that they are regarded as equal to males. I confess that the work they do is equal, however, disappointing ly, the pay is not. Women may do no less work but earn much less than men. To make matters worse, they're confronted with great possibility to be fired due to their marriage and pregnancy.Natural features appear to be a burden on women. Besides, women also hold less hope to be promoted. Once women in office may do trivial work such as typing and stenography while nowadays quite a large number of women are qualified for major task and ready for heavy responsibility. Unfortunately, they will barely have chances to display their talent. Eventually, only a few women succeed in winning high positions as well as high salaries. Common situation is that women are reduced to low positions and thus paid "accordingly". In a society where human rights are strongly emphasized,it's terrible to see sexism demonstrated in almost every aspect of human life. All in all, equality between sexes is badly urged.Everybody, especially the victim of sexism at work, is looking forward to being treated equally.
Should Men and Women Be Equal?Nowadays,we still have a lot arguments on whether men and women should be treated equally. In my opinion,it is self-evident that men and human are equal.Firstly, men and women are born to be equal, for it's neccecary for the ballance of the natrue.Secondly,if men and women are not equal in many aspects, the developement of not only human beings but also the sociaty will be affected. Finally,Men and women are both important though they paly a different part in the sociaty. Each can not live without the other. So,it's clear that men and women should be equal. It's part of the law of nature.
The US lags at 22nd place behind developed and even a couple of developing countries in a study of inequality between men and women, mainly because it has few women in politics。
This is in spite of the ascent of Nancy Pelosi who is set to become the first woman to head the US House of Representatives。 Sweden is the only country where men and women form equal numbers among all ministers and parliamentarians。
Cherie Booth, a human rights barrister and wife of Tony Blair, UK prime minister, said there were more women in parliament in Iraq and Afghanistan – two countries not covered by the report – than in the UK。 The study of 115 countries published yesterday by the World Economic Forum, a Swiss-based think-tank, measures the gender gap based on economic, political, educational and health-based criteria in a benchmarking exercise aimed at improving women's position in society。
The individual country rankings show Sweden, Norway and Finland at the top of the league, having closed about 80 per cent of the gender gap, with Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Chad at the bottom, with a gender gap of about 50 per cent。 The Philippines is the only Asian and developing country in the top 10。
The US falls short of the top 20 but other economically-advanced countries are ranked lower。 France and Italy are ranked 70 and 77 respectively, while Japan takes 79th place。
The UK is in ninth place。 The index focuses on the relative extent of the gender gap regardless of a country's wealth – by assessing how well countries divide their opportunities and resources between men and women。
Although no country offers women equal treatment with men, countries have made big progress in education and healthcare for women, having closed 90 per cent of the gap with men in these areas。

Briefly, college life differs from high school life in three ways.
First, in middle school, we did not live on campus, but at college, we have to live on it . Next, in high school our teachers showed us how to solve every problem. At college, however, we are left to solve problems by ourselves. Finally, since we didn't live on campus in high school, it was usually easy to keep a friendly relationship with our classmates. Yet, at college. As we live and study together, there is bound to be divergence or disagreement in opinions, life styles, etc. So we have to learn to get on well with each other.
Although I often recall my high school, I like college life more.
